Post-traumatic stress disorder or PTSD is a caused when a person witnessed or experienced a number of events that are catastrophic or extremely distressing. A lot of people would associate post-traumatic stress disorder with emergency response cases or military history but there are also PTSD cases that happens in some workplaces.

Experiencing or witnessing series of events that are stressful, overwhelming, or extremely frightening can cause a person to develop a post-traumatic stress disorder or PTSD. The usual signs of a person having post-traumatic stress disorder are the following:
1. A constant flashbacks.
2. Strong anxiety level.
3. Experiencing a constant feel for fear and nightmares.
4. Increasing anxiety level.
5. Uncontrollable anger.
6. Having some loss of feelings.
7. Experiencing paranoia.
8. Depression level increase.
9. Difficult time concentrating.

A number of serious safety cases in a workplace can result to a person developing post-traumatic stress disorder. Post-traumatic stress disorder or PTSD will result from any given serious health and safety incident but the occupations that has the highest risk of developing a post-traumatic stress disorder are the doctors, nurses, first responders, dispatch receivers, military personnel, and corrections officers. A manufacturing incident or a bullying that will happen in any workplace can also cause PTSD or post-traumatic stress disorder to the person involved.
