So far my liver is good. I do not take these medications together. I take my last dose of vicadin about 3 or 4 hours before bedtime. No problems so far. I do get Norco, to cut down on my apap intake. It's hydro just like vicodin, lortab, lorcet , but 10mg with only or apap. Hydro every day, klonopin sporadically - when I'm in really bad shape.
I also take both of them. The doctor said he'll run tests periodically to test my liver. Klonopin and Vicadin, but the vicadin only for the really horrible pain. I take Ultram on a daily basis. I found out about this from the Fibromyalgia Network publications. It is an opiod, but not even scheduled like vicadin. According to what I read, and my doctor agreed, Ultram is not as strong and is not as likely to cause a dependence. I've been taking both Klonopin and Ultram on a daily basis for several years not with no ill effects.
It is actually a dirty pain pill with additives that many of us don't need. Of course, everyone is different. I would rather take a small dose of Norco hydrocodone with a low level of apap than a large dose of ultram. I spent years in a chronic pain group long before I got really sick and heard a lot of horror stories about the overuse of ultram docs aren't scared to prescribe it and the misery of withdrawal.
Doctors know a lot less about medications than they lead you to believe. For many of them, the only information they bother to take in is what they get fed by the drug company representatives. I take 1 mg Klonopin every night, but I always seem to need pain med cuz of achiness from just doing stuff during the day. I usually opt for Tylenol, which is bad on the liver, but some nights it has to be Vicodin.
I usually take a half, but if need be, I take a whole one. That sounds terrible, but the two together realy calm my system down and I sleep good and wake up feeling fine. Hope my liver handles it okay, just sometimes I have to take the Vicadin. It helps me sleep by the way, I couldnt take it during the day. You must log in or sign up to reply here.
